This week, I embarked on a journey into the enigmatic world of “The Painscreek Killings.” In this game, you assume the role of a determined reporter tasked with unveiling the truth behind a long-forgotten murder that has remained shrouded in mystery for years. What sets this game apart from the detective adventures I’ve previously encountered is its refusal to offer guiding markers or hand-holding assistance. Here, you are entirely unburdened, free to explore and uncover crucial clues independently. The game even encourages you to keep pen and paper close at hand to record any vital information you discover meticulously. It’s akin to playing a tabletop game or engaging in a mystery like Cluedo, where note-taking becomes essential for piecing together the puzzle.
